She became an apprentice at Ardmore Ceramics under Fée Halsted-Bernard, but over time she and Halsted assumed a greater role as studio partners. Ntshalintshali was awarded the Corobrik National Ceramics Award in 1988. In 1990, she and Halsted were selected joint winners of the Standard Bank Young Artist Award. The catalogue for this exhibition, authored by South African fine artist Andrew Verster, included the following description of Ntshalintshali's ceramics: \"The characters in Bonnie's work, the animals, the birds and the people are all individuals. One is attracted to them precisely because they are such powerful personalities.\" In 1991, she was asked to create fabric prints based on her ceramics for a Grahamstown festival. Her ceramics were included at the 1992 Seville Expo, the 1993 Venice Biennale, and the 1995 South African Bienniale. Designs by Ntashalintashali frequently drew inspiration from Zulu folk culture or biblical imagery. Her sister-in-law Beauty Ntshalintshali, half-brother Vuzi Ntshalintshali, and another relative, Somandla Ntshalintshali, all joined her at Ardmore and learnt the shop's unique style.Bonnie Ntshalintshali passed away in 1999 from an HIV/AIDS-related disease. Her age was 32 years.
